Scottsdale police suspect DUI in fatal 2-car, head-on collision

A 58-year-old woman has died after a head-on collision Friday night in Scottsdale, police said.

The crash occurred about 7:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, north of the intersection of Hayden and Cactus roads.

Four people were taken to a hospital, three from one vehicle – the 58-year-old woman and two men ages 56 and 60. The men had serious injuries, police said.

A 48-year-old man was the only person in the other vehicle and had minor injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Police said he also was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

“This incident is another reminder of the harmful impact an impaired driver can have on other people,” Scottsdale police said in a release.

“Driving impaired is 100% preventable. Pre-arrange a rideshare option, designate a sober driver or take a taxi.”
