Scottsdale Philharmonic hires world-class conductor Dmitry Polyakov

Posted

The Scottsdale Philharmonic has hired a full-time, world-class conductor, Maestro Dmitry Polyakov, to open its 11th season on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Polyakov recently accepted the principal conductor position as the Scottsdale Philharmonic embarks on becoming “a major symphony in Arizona,” according to a press release, noting orchestra members look forward to performing under the baton of the new musical leader.

Described as a key figure in building the organization’s future, Polyakov lives with his wife and two children in the city of Scottsdale.

“Every great symphony must first start with a great conductor,” said Scottsdale Philharmonic President/Co-Founder Joy Partridge in the release. “Help us make the Scottsdale Philharmonic become a symphony to be proud of. We ask for your support in helping us with this amazing new musical journey.”

The conductor’s skills are expected to enhance the performance level of the Scottsdale Philharmonic, according to the release, noting “the vision of creating the Scottsdale Philharmonic into a major symphony in Arizona is just beginning.”

“Dmitry amazed both our musicians and audience as a visiting guest conductor with his brilliant talent and masterful skills as he conducted our spring concerts. He received numerous standing ovations and tremendous enthusiastic applause from our audience. It was an exciting moment for all of us who were there,” said Partridge.

All concerts in the 2022-23 season will be held from 4 to 6 p.m, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 East Second St., Scottsdale. Musical selections to be played at the Oct. 9 concert are listed on the website.

Ticket donations of $15 are available for all upcoming concerts online and the venue website lists the latest information about Covid protocols for the events.
