Posted
Two adults have been arrested and booked for alleged first degree homicide and two counts of child abuse, Scottsdale Police officials say.
On Jan. 31, the Scottsdale Police Department responded to a hotel in Old Town Scottsdale at 3560 N. Marshall Way, for a medical call regarding an 11-year-old male who was not breathing and unresponsive, police say.
Officials say life saving measures were attempted by police and fire responders. The child was transported to a local hospital by Scottsdale Fire Department officials, where he was pronounced dead, officials say.
Stephanie Marie Davis, 51, and husband Thomas James Desharnais, 33, have been arrested and booked on first degree homicide and two counts of child abuse, police say.
Police officials say due to significant injuries of the victim, Scottsdale detectives responded and began an investigation. Detectives reportedly discovered a second young male child under the care of the defendants. The Department of Child Services responded and took custody of the young male child, police say.
Davis is the biological grandmother of both children, police say.
Both suspects are being held on cash bonds. Davis’ bond is $3.5 million, and Desharnais’ bond is $1.5 million.
