Municipal officials agree conditions have been met for Chauncey Social’s to open a bar in Scottsdale.
On Feb. 4, Scottsdale City Council approved on consent resolution No. 11699, finding that criteria for a Conditional Use Permit had been met for the 6,500-square-foot space inside an existing restaurant at 17767 N. Scottsdale Road.
Chauncey Social is owned by BCB Group Investments LLC, according to a city staff report.
Located inside Chauncey Lane Marketplace, the total 10-acre parcel is a mixed-use development comprised of two commercial pad buildings with restaurant, retail and office uses.
The east portion of the property includes a four-story, multifamily apartment complex.
Chauncey Social’s proposal includes adding a bar use to an existing restaurant space on the first floor of a three-story commercial building. The restaurant building includes an enclosed outdoor patio.
Plans include serving liquor between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 a.m.
Conditional Use Permits, which may be revocable, conditional or valid for a specified time period, may be granted only when expressly permitted after the Planning Commission has made a recommendation and City Council has found the application meets all criteria.
Such criteria include not being detrimental to the public; characteristics of the application are compatible with surrounding areas; and the uses do not disrupt existing balance of daytime and nighttime uses.
