Displacing the longstanding farmers market was among concerns for the Scottsdale City Council in discussions revolving around a pending parking garage location.
During the more than three-hour March 18 meeting, several people spoke passionately to council about preserving the family- and dog-friendly Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market and not disrupting the attraction frequented by locals and tourists. More than 100 local growers and specialty food vendors bring various organic and pesticide-free produce, seasonal goods, and more to the market at 3806 N. Brown Ave.
“Old Town Farmers Market parking overall was an issue. Many were concerned,” said Laura Minnick, appealing to the council to consider another nearby site for the multistory parking garage. “We understand the importance of parking. We learned the parking garage is not tied to an address. We ask that you take the time to reconsider the location of the parking garage.”
