Phoenix Open brings traffic restrictions to north Scottsdale

With the Waste Management Phoenix Open in town, Scottsdale roads will see a new round of restrictions and closures throughout the tournament, going along with other road work projects such as the Arizona Loop 101 widening project.

City staff recommend motorists take Loop 101 instead of surface streets near TPC Scottsdale, according to a press release.

Greenway Hayden Loop will narrow to one lane in each direction from Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to Bell Road until Feb. 10. Bell Road will also close from Hayden Road to 82nd Street until Feb. 3.

The following roads will see restrictions to only residents, resort guests and event attendees with the appropriate passes until Feb. 2:

  • Princess Blvd from the roundabout to Hayden Road;
  • Princess Drive from Hayden Road to Pacesetter Way
  • Hayden Road between Mayo Boulevard (east) and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard;
  • Mayo Boulevard east of Hayden Road;
  • Mayo Boulevard west of Hayden Road (access to Celebration of Fine Art will be provided); and
  • 82nd Street between Mayo Boulevard and Bell Road.

Motorists will also see the closure of on- and off-ramps at 56th and 64th streets until early April. The westbound frontage road between Hayden and Scottsdale roads is also closed until November. Drivers can use Legacy Boulevard as a detour.

The work-zone shift between Scottsdale and Hayden roads is still in effect while construction crews build a new bridge over the future Miller Road extension. No reductions are planned and the shift will remain in effect until August.

Multiple lane restrictions will occur on or near McDonald Drive to Pima Road weekdays through Feb. 10 for boring.

Multiple lane restrictions will also occur at or near the intersection of Sweetwater Avenue and 100th Street from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through JAn. 31 for ADA ramp work.

Northbound Hayden Road will be reduced to one land from McKellips Road to Moreland Street through Jan. 31 for utility work. Multiple restrictions will also occur at the intersection of McDonald Drive and Hayden Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays through Jan. 28 for utility work.
