One Step Beyond to host benefit event in Peoria

One Step Beyond, Inc., a Phoenix-based nonprofit dedicated to providing programming and services for adults who have intellectual disabilities, is hosting its Culinary, Casino & Cocktails for a Cause Feb. 24 at the Rio Vista Recreation Center in Peoria.

One Step Beyond, a provider of programming and services for adults who have intellectual disabilities, is hosting Culinary, Casino and Cocktails for a Cause, presented by Burns Pest Elimination, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Lakeview Room at Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road.
The event will bring the Las Vegas atmosphere to attendees, featuring professional dealers and game tables offering blackjack and roulette games.
With the purchase of a $100 ticket or donation, each attendee will be provided with chips to play the casino game of their choice–additional chips will be available for purchase in $50 increments.
These chips are for entertainment purposes only; no actual gambling will take place at the event. Attendees will then turn in their chips to event organizers and the top winners will be announced as the recipients of prizes.
Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be provided throughout the night by the One Step Beyond Catering Co.
The program provides group-supported employment job training opportunities for One Step Beyond participants as they engage in regular weekly catering in addition to various public and private events throughout the year.
The event will showcase One Step Beyond’s programming that enables participants to contribute to and achieve greater social participation in their communities.
These programs include life skills, employment, recreation, fine arts, health and fitness, ice hockey and more.
One Step Beyond has locations in Glendale (7200 W. Bell Road), Scottsdale (8224 E. Evans Road) and Surprise (15527 N. Reems Road) and a culinary training center in Peoria (9299 W. Olive Ave.).
