Paul Ohanian, founder of Scottsdale Wealth Planning and local entrepreneur for 30 years, will join the Friends of the Arizona Historical Society board.

The Friends of the Arizona Historical Society, Inc. was established in 2014 as a 501(c)3 organization aimed at advancing and supporting the mission of the Arizona Historical Society. They do that by raising funds to create and sustain programs, exhibits and outreach, according to a press release.

“I believe in preserving and promoting the important Arizona Historical Society mission for our future generations.” Mr. Ohanian said in a prepared statement.

James Burns, executive director of the Arizona Historical Society, said the organization is excited to bring on Mr. Ohanian because of his talents in financial estate planning as well as his knowledge of Arizona history.

“Paul’s appreciation of Arizona’s deep roots is demonstrated in his loyalty to our great state - his office is on Main Street in Scottsdale, and he resides in Scottsdale where his wife and 3 adult children have carved their own Arizona legacy.” he said in a prepared statement.

Mr. Ohanian comes from the Midwest but has been an Arizona resident since 1986. He has stewarded financial strategies for over 30 years.

Beginning his career as a certified public accountant, his company provides wealth planning for complex life changes for individuals, couples, businesses and family legacy planning.

He personally oversees every portfolio plan of SWP’s investment strategies coupled with his philosophy. Expert partnerships in industry specific practice areas are integrated through Mr. Ohanian’s knowledge of financial planning.

Mr. Ohanian recently served as a member of the Notre Dame Preparatory Advisory School Board and previously as president of the Scottsdale Rotary Club.

Mr. Ohanian lives in Scottsdale with his wife and three adult children and one new family addition, “Sampson”, the family rescue dog.

The Historical Society’s Mission and Vision is connecting people through the power of Arizona’s history. Its vision seeks to be the driving force strengthening Arizona’s communities by promoting history through leadership, partnership and scholarship, a release states.

The Arizona Historical Society hopes to serve as the steward of Arizona’s history. Its collections showcases Arizona history and its artifact and manuscript holdings offers opportunities for public programming, educational outreach, and exhibitions, as well as academic and community-based research.

AHS collections provide premier resources for recounting Arizona’s past, and they are invaluable tools for promoting public understanding of contemporary issues such as water availability, immigration, free trade, mining, ranching and agribusiness, the defense industry, cultural diversity and urban development and revitalization.
