SCOTTSDALE — Notre Dame Prep has announced a new head coach for the girls basketball program.

Alicia Hopkins, the 3A West Region Coach of the Year, was introduced as the team’s new leader over the weekend. Prior to joining NDP, Hopkins was the Head Coach at Kingman High School, leading the team to a 14-6 record last season.

Hopkins played basketball at Hanover College in Indiana where she was a four-time First Team All-HCAC selection. She also finished her career as the program’s record holder for career and single-season assists and steals.

“Throughout our search, Alicia stood out from an impressive group of candidates for her energy, leadership, and commitment to developing student-athletes,” NDP Athletic Director Dennis Coyle said in a press release.

He continued, “Her combination of basketball knowledge, relationship-building skills, and counseling background gives us tremendous confidence in her ability to connect with our players and help them grow on and off the court. We believe Alicia will build on NDP girls’ basketball’s outstanding tradition while establishing a culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, and personal growth. We are excited to welcome her to the Saints community.”
