Green Acres Cemetery to participate in national event honoring veterans
Posted
Independent Newsmedia
The Scottsdale community is invited to Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 14, to be a part of Wreaths Across America Day.
A nationwide effort, volunteers will place remembrance wreaths on the headstones of up to 1,545 veterans laid to rest in the cemetery. As each wreath is placed, the veteran’s name will be read aloud to ensure the individual who served in the U.S. armed forces is not forgotten.
Green Acres is working with Exchange Club of Scottsdale and Tempe to raise the funds to purchase wreaths for each veteran’s grave, according to a press release.
Those who wish to volunteer or sponsor a wreath may visit wreathsacrossamerica.org/AZGACS.
A limited number of wreaths will be available the day of the event for those who wish to sponsor.
Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery is at 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale. The event begins at 10 a.m.
