The Grand Canyon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held a luncheon meeting where the Good Citizen Award was presented to a Chaparral High School senior, Dashram Pai.
On May 7, the Good Citizen Award was presented to Pai by Betty Heenan, Chairman, Karen Andrews, Regent, and Morgan Elliott, Arizona State, Regent, Daughters of the American Revolution, who helped present a certificate, pin, and check at the McCormick Resort, according to a press release.
Chaparral High School Counselor Lesley Rold and parents, Dr. Rich and Betsy Pai were among those who celebrated with him. Pai will be honored at the state conference on May 12, the release stated.
Heenan commended Pai on winning the chapter, state, and district competitions in this national contest. Pai has a 4.9-grade point and has displayed qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in his home, school, and community, noted the release.
As part of the contest, Pai wrote an essay on “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It.” `He will attend Princeton University in the fall and major in public affairs or anthropology.
