Arts on the Desert presents the exhibit opening and artist reception for Mary Lou Oslund on Saturday, March 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gallery on the Way.

The event is free and open to the public who are welcome to meet Oslund and view her art in the gallery on the campus of Saint Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church.

The Artist

Oslund is an award-winning professional photographer and artist who is known for her artwork in different mediums that include photographic murals, fused glass pieces, woodcarving and wood burning pieces and fabric art, a press release read.

Oslund is inspired by birds, wildlife, scenery and whatever is happening in the world around her when she travels, the release said.

Oslund received her bachelor of fine art degree from Kansas City Art Institute and her master’s in education degree from Colorado State University. She has a craftsman degree and is a certified professional photographer from Professional Photographers of America.

Oslund’s photography career has spanned over 55 years and includes commercial work, owning her own photography studio and teaching in Colorado and Idaho high schools. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries and craft fairs.

Arts on the Desert presents exhibits from local artists at the Gallery on the Way and promotes continuous learning while also acting as a place of restoration and renewal where all may belong, the release said.
