Arizona AG vows to fight for detained Peoria business owner

Mayes blasts Trump’s immigration policies, stating they are not safe

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes blasted the Trump Administration’s immigration policy at a meeting in Peoria Aug. 19, particularly its handling of Kelly Yu, who is being held in an Eloy detention center and faces deportation at any moment.

Mayes vowed to fight for Yu, a long-time Peoria resident.

Yu does not have legal status, but she is a wife and a mother with no criminal record, as well as a successful business owner who employs dozens of employees. She fled China as a refugee more than 20 years ago while pregnant with her daughter.
