The City of Scottsdale has unveiled a new pedestrian underpass along the Indian Bend Multiuse Path, intended to improve safety and traffic flow at the busy intersection of Hayden and Chaparral roads.
The $5 million project, completed in nine months, reduces conflicts between pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles. By diverting foot and bike traffic below Chaparral Road, it allows for longer green-light times for motorists.
Funded by federal grants and Scottsdale’s Transportation Sales Tax, the project also included sidewalk and path modifications near the intersection.
