Police identify 3 found dead in Scottsdale home, murder-suicide suspected

Posted

Police have identified the three people found dead in a home near Indian Bend Road and Via de la Sendero, where authorities suspect a homicide-suicide occurred.

Scottsdale police stated in a release that Sophia Lonergan, 15, Tod Lonergan, 51, and Lisa Lonergan, 46, were found inside the home.

All three people had gunshot wounds.

“Based on available information and evidence collected so far, these deaths are being investigated as a probable homicide-suicide case. There is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community,” police stated in an earlier release.

Just after 10 a.m. March 26, officers responded to the home for a welfare check after a coworker of one of the victims called authorities to report the employee’s absence and that they were unable to contact the worker.

Numerous unsuccessful efforts were made to contact those inside the home before officers checked the outside of the residence and, while in the backyard, they saw two people who appeared to be dead inside the house.

Officers entered the home and found a third person who was found dead in a separate room.

At this point in the investigation, Scottsdale detectives are not seeking any other suspects or investigative leads.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will ultimately determine the cause of death for all three people, police said.
