The SXS Christmas Cruise will be rolling through Queen Creek neighborhoods this weekend.
The annual event in which vehicles decked out in their lighted holiday finery runs from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday.
For the event, Sossaman Road will be closed at Pecos starting at 5:30 p.m. Ellsworth Road, according to the Queen Creek Police Department.
This is not a town-sponsored event and QCPD is cautioning drivers to expect delays.
Residents Jen and Nick Masse started the event seven years ago and over that time a growing number of vehicles have joined the parade.
Organizers will be collecting items for U.S. military members stationed overseas, as well as Toys for Tots. Money will also be collected through raffles.
Any street-legal vehicle is welcome to take part in the parade, which is also open to all off-road vehicles. There is no need to RSVP — just show up with holiday lights.
The staging area for the cruise is at the American Leadership Academy Applied Technologies campus, 7729 E. Pecos Road in Mesa.
The SXS Christmas Cruise will be traveling through the following neighborhoods:
Cortina
Remington Heights/Emperor Estates
Victoria
The Villages
Hastings Farms
“If you’re planning to watch the cruise, please ensure you’re in a safe, well-lit area that is off the roadway. Avoid the route if you’re not participating or viewing the cruise,” QCPD stated in a Facebook post.
As for those participating in the cruise, the vehicle and a licensed driver must comply with all traffic laws unless otherwise directed by a police officer. QCPD is also warning participants not to drink and drive.
