Student at Queen Creek’s Silver Valley models leadership

Posted

Silver Valley Elementary School student Julius Bradley is proving what it means to be a true leader.

Bradley was recently recognized with the Student Champion Award (K–6) by School Connect.

He has earned attention for his compassion, initiative and commitment to making a difference, according to a press release from the Queen Creek Unified School District.

“To me, leadership is an example,” Bradley stated in the release. “Just because you have the title of a leader doesn’t mean that you are a leader. You really have to show it by being a role model and setting an example for others.”

This mindset has guided Bradley throughout his leadership journey, shaping how he interacts with his peers and community. He believes leadership is rooted in inclusion and impact.

“Everybody should have the chance to learn and really get out there and find their own place,” he stated. “I seek impact. It’s not always about popularity. It’s about the impact that you make on people.”

He is especially passionate about making sure others feel seen and heard.

“Some people might not be able to be heard because they might be shy or quiet, but I want everybody to know that they’re heard and there’s always someone out there for them,” Bradley stated.

Inspired by a desire to help those in need, Bradley has taken action through service projects.

“I see people giving out to the homeless or people in need, which really gives me inspiration,” he explained.

Partnering with friends, Bradley helped create care packages for individuals experiencing homelessness.

“Whenever I see someone homeless on the side of the road, I always give them one of the packages,” he said.

In another effort, Bradley and his friends organized a lemonade stand at a local park, raising nearly $200 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

For Bradley, leadership also means staying grounded.

“I think humility really means being yourself,” he stated. “You don’t want to try to be someone that you aren’t. Whether that’s being funny, kind or honest, just be true to yourself.”

His passion for helping others continues to drive him forward.

“I have a heartwarming feeling when I help or give,” Bradley stated. “There’s always someone in need that needs guidance and someone to be there for them.”

He also expressed gratitude for the support system that has shaped him.

“All of my teachers, especially my parents and my principals, they’ve all set an example for me,” Bradley stated. “That’s how I became who I am today.”
