Seven Queen Creek businesses requesting state liquor licenses

Posted

Several businesses requesting liquor licenses from the state received recommendations from Queen Creek.

At its July 15 meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council recommended approving seven businesses for liquor licenses from the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control.

Among the restaurants and retailers requesting the licenses is Postino Queen Creek, which is under construction at The Switchyard in downtown.

According to the license request, Postino Queen Creek, 21791 S. Ellsworth Loop Road, Suite 101, is expected to finish construction in October.

The restaurant is applying for a new series 007 beer and wine bar license and a new series 12 restaurant liquor license.

A series 007 license authorizes holders to sell beer and wine, but not distilled spirits, for on-premises consumption, as well as off-premises sales. Food service is optional.

A series 12 restaurant license is “designed for bona fide restaurants where the primary business is the sale of food, and the sale of spirituous liquor (beer, wine and distilled spirits) is incidental to the food service,” according to a staff report.

Other businesses that received recommendations for series 12 licenses were:

  • Harkins Queen Creek 14, 20481 E. Rittenhouse Road.
  • Queen Creek Public House, 22002 S. Ellsworth Road.
  • First Watch, 23021 E. Riggs Road, Suite 108, which is currently under construction and set to open on Sept. 21.
  • Burros & Fries, 20540 S. Signal Butte Road.

The council also recommended series 10 beer and wine store licenses for two businesses: Carniceria Sonora, 22485 E. Queen Creek Road, and 7-Eleven, 6431 W. Empire Blvd. The 7-Eleven is under construction and set to be completed on Oct. 1.

A series 10 license authorizes the sale of beer and wine, but not distilled spirits, in their original, unbroken packages for consumption off the licensed premises.

“This license is commonly held by grocery stores, convenience stores, specialty beer and wine shops and other retail establishments that primarily sell packaged beer and wine,” a staff report stated.
