Three town of Queen Creek employees have been named Canyon State Local Heroes.
On Sept. 11, Canyon State Academy in Queen Creek held a ceremony to recognize individuals in the community who have had an impact on the lives of at-risk youth.
Canyon State Academy is a residential school that provides at-risk boys with academic, career and technical training.
Queen Creek Police Department Officer Erica Vasquez was honored for her work with students at Desert Lily Academy, a residential school for at-risk girls.
“Recognizing the need for positive law enforcement relationships, she has committed to mentoring these young women, offering guidance, encouragement and support,” a post on the QCPD Facebook page stated.
Canyon State Academy also honored Tony Garcia with the public works department and Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department Battalion Chief Dallas Pardo.
