Revenue increases for the town of Queen Creek

Posted

Queen Creek’s coffers are getting a bit fuller this fiscal year thanks to population growth and a strong economy.

According to a town official, Queen Creek’s fiscal year 2021-22 operating budget has increased from $96.7 million to $106.3 million.

Driving the growth are an increasing population, more businesses and sales taxes, city officials said.

Revenue projections during the next five years are expected to rise from $106.3 million this fiscal year to $158.4 million in fiscal year 2026-27. Meanwhile, Queen Creek’s population is expected to grow from 71,850 in 2022 to 116,900 in 2030. Single-family and multifamily buildout is expected when the population reaches 150,000, according to city data.

Looking at a 10-year population projection, single family and multifamily dwelling units are expected to increase by 17,695 or more than 90%.

As for non-residential building, the town, excluding state land, will be built out at 7.2 million square feet, or 5.9 million square feet in Maricopa County and 1.3 million square feet in Pinal County. Non-residential development includes mixed development, light industrial, office and regional and community commercial.

According to the town report, non-residential development continues to lag behind residential development.
