Crismon High School hosted a community-wide Harvest Pack Meal event this past weekend, where more than 90,000 meals were packed and donated to four local food banks.
The event brought together more than 600 volunteers, many of whom were Crismon High School students, who spent the day working side by side to help fight food insecurity in the community, according to a press release from the Queen Creek Unified School District.
The March 28 event on the Crismon High School campus was part of a focus on service, leadership and community impact. In partnership with JustServe and Harvest Pack, meals assembled during the event went to four local food banks, including the Queen Creek Unified School District’s Family Resource Center.
“Crismon students live out our core values every day, character, humility, and service,” Crismon High Principal Elyse Torbert stated in a district press release.“ This event is an opportunity to turn those values into action and make a meaningful difference for families in our own community.”
The initiative was made possible through community support, including donations from Light the World Giving Machines and additional fundraising efforts totaling $26,850.
Along with students and families, first responders from the Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department and the Queen Creek Police Department participated in organized packing sessions throughout the day.
