At its Wednesday, May 18 meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council voted to approve recommendations for liquor licenses to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control for the following businesses:
A new series 12 restaurant liquor license application submitted by Amy S. Nations on behalf of Barrio Queen located at 21156 S. Ellsworth Loop Road, Queen Creek. The application is submitted as a renewal and expiration of previous license is set for July 28, 2022.
A new series 12 restaurant liquor license application submitted by Jared Michael Repinski on behalf of Las Colinas Golf Club located at 21515 E. Village Loop, Queen Creek.
A new series 007 beer and wine bar liquor license application submitted by Jared Michael Repinski on behalf of Las Colinas Golf Club located at 21515 E. Village Loop, Queen Creek.
The council also approved issuing a conditional use permit to Take 5 Instant Oil, a request by Jesse Macias (M3 Design). The council also approved a site plan to allow the construction of a new 1,315 square foot drive-thru oil change facility on an approximate 1-acre parcel within the Pecan Plaza development, located north of the northwest corner of Ellsworth and Riggs roads.
The proposed facility consists of vehicle lubrication services only, with no auto repair uses as permitted in the general commercial zoning district. According to a staff document, “the applicant has stated that drive-thru oil change services take approximately 10-15 minutes, with no drop-off services being provided. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily, with an estimated trip generation of 33-37 vehicles per day, or 3-4 vehicles per hour.”
Staff also reported that the zoning ordinance requires 160 feet of vehicle stacking distance for all drive thru uses. Take 5 will have 219 feet of stacking. In addition, three service bays are proposed to ensure lines of vehicles do not spill over.
The staff report also stated that the “project’s design will complement the surrounding development by utilizing the approved materials, colors and theme of the Pecan Plaza development.
“The building provides architectural enhancements visible along Ellsworth Road and from within Pecan Plaza. The bay doors are oriented away from Ellsworth Road, perpendicular to the arterial. Additionally, the existing easement and 30-foot landscape buffer assist in providing an additional setback from the main road. In conjunction with the site layout design, extended awnings, recessed service bays, and green screens are incorporated to relieve bay dominance, providing enhanced building aesthetics and screening.”
