Queen Creek offering free water-smart workshops

Posted

Queen Creek is offering free water-smart workshops for all town of Queen Creek water customers through April.

“These educational workshops focus on desert-friendly landscaping and efficient watering practices designed to help residents reduce water use and save money,” according to a press release.

Workshop topics include heat-proofing, pruning and maintaining, irrigation design and installation, and butterfly gardening in the desert.

The clinics run from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Queen Creek Library, Zane Grey Room, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road.

On Saturday, Feb. 7, horticulturist and author Noelle Johnson, also known as the “AZ Plant Lady,” will host a workshop on creating a heat-resilient garden. Participants will learn how to identify signs of heat stress in plants, reduce reflected heat around their homes and discover Johnson’s top picks for “heat-proof” plants that thrive in extreme desert conditions.

On Saturday, April 4, participants will learn the fundamentals of proper pruning and how it helps keep landscape healthy, functional and looking its best.

On Saturday, April 18, residents will learn how to turn their backyards into a retreat or a haven for kids and pets. Learn simple, practical steps to transform a plain grass yard into a vibrant, water-efficient outdoor sanctuary.

On Saturday, April 25, Johnson will teach how to attract butterflies using the four key elements of a butterfly-friendly landscape. Learn about local species, the best plants to support them and simple design tips to create a colorful, pollinator-friendly space.

Seating is limited and registration is required. For a list of Spring 2026 Water-Smart Workshops and to register, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/WaterSmart.
