Queen Creek is going all in to celebrate Earth Day every day this April.

At its meeting on Wednesday, the Queen Creek Town Council will be proclaiming April as Earth Month, and to celebrate, the town will host various events and activities, as well as offer resources available online at QueenCreekAZ.gov/EarthMonth.

Throughout the month, more than 70 water conservation art contest submissions will be displayed in the Queen Creek Library lobby, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road. Learn more about water conservation at QueenCreekAZ.gov/ReduceTheUse, according to a town press release.

For a family fun activity, make a box car out of cardboard and other recyclable materials, then bring it (or a chair or blanket) to a free outdoor movie on Friday, April 5 at Founders’ Park, 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. Catch a screening of “Finding Nemo,” plus get free popcorn, water and other giveaways, The movies starts at about 7:15 p.m., but the free popcorn and water will be given out starting at 6:30 p.m. Learn more and register at QueenCreekAZ.gov/BoxCarMovie.

Queen Creek loves nothing more than offering  free landscaping workshops and there will be two in April. Learn the ABCs of landscape watering starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 13, and get inspired for your backyard makeover (or first-time landscaping) beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 20. Both classes will take place at the Queen Creek Library’s Zane Grey Room, 21802 S. Ellsworth Road.  Learn more and register at QueenCreekAZ.gov/WaterSmart.

Finally make sure to register by Monday, April 15 to get a Fast Pass for this month’s QC Recycles drive-thru event. The event starts at 7 a.m., Saturday, April 20 at the Queen Creek Field Operations Facility, 19715 S. 220th St. Bring paper to shred, latex paint, appliances, prescription drugs, construction materials, textiles, and more to donate, recycle and dispose of properly. Learn more and register at QueenCreekAZ.gov/RecycleEvents.
