Queen Creek High band director receives honor

Posted

The director of bands at Queen Creek High School is this month’s winner of Fulton Homes’ School Salute program.

Ashely Deane was presented with a $1,000 check on Thursday, which will be used to support QCHS’ music program, according to a press release.

Now in her 10th year as an educator, Deane has entered her second year at Queen Creek High as director of bands. She is a bass clarinetist, conductor and educator from Arkansas, where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education.

Deane went on to obtain a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from Florida State University, where she served as a graduate teaching and conducting assistant, working with collegiate ensembles, including Florida State's Marching Chiefs.

According to her nomination letter, Deane “doesn't just teach music at Queen Creek High; she builds character, community and confidence. Her tireless dedication to our marching band inspires every student to strive for excellence, while keeping it fun,” the release continued.

“Educators like Mrs. Deane show us that music education is about so much more than learning notes or preparing for the next performance,” Doug Fulton, CEO of Fulton Homes, stated in the release. “She helps students build confidence, discipline and a sense of community while encouraging them to strive for excellence."

The School Salute program will be recognizing Valley teachers throughout the 2026-27 school year.
