Queen Creek has a peek of new rec, aquatic center construction

Posted

This Halloween, Queen Creek is offering a treat to residents who can’t wait for the town’s recreation and aquatic center to open this spring at Frontier Family Park.

The town has posted updated construction information and photos on its website where residents can see the scope of the project, particularly the aquatic center.

The water slides are in place and the concrete has been poured for the lazy river, competition pool and play pool area.

Here are some of the aquatic center features residents will soon get to enjoy:

  • A 500-foot lazy river for swimmers of all ages and abilities
  • A play pool area with a splash playground, shallow water with a beach entry and lots of places to sit.
  • An eight-lane, 25-yard competition pool with diving boards for more experienced swimmers.
  • Four water slides, including a slide tower with two racing slides.

The center will also have ramadas, a picnic patio and a spray pad for the little ones.

The recreation center is also set to open in spring and will include various indoor sport courts such as basketball, volleyball and pickleball. It will also have a fitness area, teen room, childcare and classrooms.

The town broke ground on the 85-acre Frontier Family Park at 20039 S. 220th St. in August 2022 and it opened in June. Construction of the aquatic and recreation center started in May 2023.

The cost of the park, the aquatic and recreation center and the expansion of Mansel Carter Oasis Park was about $160 million.
