The organization For Our Town is hosting its second annual Reconnect Queen Creek to encourage residents to enjoy a phone-free day to connect with family, friends, neighbors and the community.
Reconnect Queen Creek is set for Tuesday, Sept. 30 and residents are being asked to pledge to spend the day without their phones and to find an activity to do with others.
For Our Town is a community initiative the brings together nonprofits, faith-based organizations, businesses and schools to tackle Queen Creek’s most serious issues.
"One of the pressing issues that was identified by the For Our Town Queen Creek meetings was mental health. Last year, the organization created a phone-free day to reconnect with family, friends and neighbors, because a connected community is a resilient one," Chris Clark, president and CEO of the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce, stated in a press release. "When people know and care for their neighbors, they are more likely to come together in times of need, creating a supportive and cohesive community."
Those who take the phone-free pledge by Saturday, Sept. 20 will be entered to win a prize. Sign the pledge at explorequeencreek.com.
