Meridian Road connection to SR 24 ready to open in Queen Creek

Posted

In partnership with the town of Queen Creek, Pinal County is completing the Meridian Road project.

Queen Creek and Pinal County broke ground on the project in August 2021.

Under the project, a new three-lane roadway has been constructed complete with traffic signals, water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.

Construction is scheduled to be completed at the end of July. The segment of Meridian Road between Germann Road and State Route 24 initially will be open to local traffic only until Aug. 11. After that, the road will be open to all commuters.

DCS contracting was hired to complete the project. The project's construction was administered by Pinal County's consultant CEI and has come in under budget and ahead of the SR 24 freeway.

“The project's successful construction is an excellent example of partnerships both public and private we. We can’t wait to open Meridian fully to commuters come August,” said Pinal County Assistant County Engineer Celeste Garza.

Queen Creek Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said that while touring the area in June, council members discovered that the city of Mesa-led project for the Signal Butte Road connection to SR 24 is not expected to be ready until February 2023 due to some material shortages.
