Queen Creek makes list of fastest-growing cities for 2021

Among the fastest-growing cities in the U.S., no state has more of them than Arizona.
Five Arizona cities were cited among the top 15 fastest-growing cities in the U.S. in new Census data released on Thursday.
Queen Creek was the fastest among the Arizona contingent and third overall for 2021, growing 8.9% to 66,346 people, according to the Census Bureau.
Just behind Queen Creek was Buckeye. The West Valley city grew 8.6% during 2021 and now has a population of 101,315, according to the Census Bureau.
Casa Grande, about an hour south of the Valley, came in at No. 7 with a 6.2% growth rate, and Maricopa landed at No. 8 with a 6.1% growth rate, according to the Census Bureau.
Last on the list of Arizona cities was Goodyear at No. 11 with a 5.4% growth rate and a population of 101,733, according to the Census Bureau.
Both Goodyear and Buckeye were listed as cities that crossed the 100,000 population threshhold.
While Phoenix didn't make the list for percentage population growth, it was second in terms of overall growth only behind San Antonio. The Census Bureau estimates Phoenix added 13,224 people between 2020 and 2021 and now has a population of 1.62 million. It is still ranked as the fifth-largest city in the U.S.
