Crismon High softball wins EV championship

The eighth-grade softball team at Crismon High School in the Queen Creek Unified School District is celebrating winning the East Valley Conference.

The team was undefeated at 14-0. They beat Casteel High to win the championship.

Consisting of 14 players, the team lost the championship game last year, but came back this season committed to being the champs.

“We did change a little bit this year versus last year,” stated Robert Hehe, Crismon High softball coach, in a district press release. “We were the runner-up last year. So, for this year, we created a little more structure during practices and a little more discipline so that they were held accountable for whatever was going on.”

For Delia and her teammates, winning the championship will not only be a memorable moment from this school year, but it will also be a steppingstone to the next goal in mind.

“To me, this is just a small win,” Delia stated in the release. “I’m just going to stay humble and not use it as an excuse to think I am better and should win the high school championship next year.”

Both the team and Hehe were honored and recognized at the district’s board meeting in January, where they were offered congratulations by Superintendent Perry Berry, QCUSD board members and other district leaders.

“I would like to congratulate the Crismon High School girls softball team for going undefeated their whole season and winning the East Valley Conference Championship,” Berry stated.

Tryouts for the school’s softball seventh- and eighth-grade teams begin Monday, Feb. 5.
