It appears the much anticipated Common Bond project in Peoria — featuring popular eateries Postino, North Italia and Blanco — is getting closer to groundbreaking.
During the past six months, Phoenix-based Common Bond Development Group has been going through the permitting process with the city, recently completing construction documents and receiving council approval for a new Series 7 beer and wine liquor license for Postino Peoria.
Peoria’s Economic Development Director Jennifer Stein said the project is generating excitement for the “high-quality” restaurants coming to the area.
“It is only a matter of time before building begins,” she said.
A spokesperson with Common Bond Development Group said more details on next steps will be available mid-January.
The restaurant complex will feature three establishments from high profile restaurateurs — Postino from Upward Projects as well as North Italia and Blanco Cocina + Cantina from Sam Fox.
The approved site plan includes outdoor dining and other community gathering spaces at the Peoria Sports Complex on land currently used for surface parking near the southeast corner of Paradise Lane and 83rd Avenue.
The project will complement the ambitious $500 million, 17-acre Stadium Point project, which is going through the permitting process with the city.
Common Bond Development Group co-developed The Global Ambassador with Sam Fox, and CBDG principal Brian Frakes is a co-owner of the hotel, at Camelback Road and 44th Street in Phoenix. The five-story, 141-room hotel opened Dec. 6, with five restaurants and a members-only club.
