Woman dies after hit and run on Van Buren Street

A 40-year-old woman died at a hospital Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle while in a crosswalk on East Van Buren Street, Phoenix police said.

Police are seeking the public’s help identifying the vehicle and its driver, who fled the scene following the crash that occurred about 5 a.m. Sept. 16 at 28^th and Van Buren streets near the private drive of a commercial business just east of the intersection.

Jennifer Knephfler had significant injuries and was taken to a hospital where she died.
