The city of Phoenix’s public heat relief sites have closed for the fall and winter.
The closure took place at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. Heat relief is always available during normal business hours at Phoenix public libraries, where air-conditioned space is open to all, regardless of the date.
The city of Phoenix’s heat season is May-September.

Now-closed dedicated heat relief locations
24/7 Respite Center: 20 W. Jackson St.
Justa Center: 1001 W. Jefferson St.
Cholla Library: 10050 Metro Pkwy E. (still available for heat relief during regular business hours)
With the end of monsoon season, the city of Phoenix has also stopped giving out free sand for sandbags and select city parks.
