Legendary rock bands Stone Temple Pilots and LIVE will tour together this summer, with special guests Soul Asylum, and will hit Phoenix along the way.
The groups are teaming up to co-headline for the Jubilee Tour. The 19-city run kicks off in August in Concord, California, and will stop in downtown Phoenix on Monday, Aug. 19 at Arizona Financial Theatre, 400 W. Washington St.
The multi-platinum selling bands are joining forces to celebrate the 30th anniversary of two beloved 90s albums, LIVE’s “Throwing Copper” and Stone Temple Pilots’ “Purple.”
When Stone Temple Pilots returned to the studio in 1994 to record their second album, the band was facing high expectations set by its debut album, “Core,” which sold more than 8 million copies and won a Grammy Award. “Purple” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, releasing the hit singles “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline” and “Big Empty” on its way to selling more than 6 million copies.
“Throwing Copper,” the third studio album from LIVE, produced by Jerry Harrison of The Talking Heads, included consecutive hit singles “Selling the Drama,” “I Alone,” “All Over You” and “Lightning Crashes,” which was No. 1 at Modern Rock Radio for 10 consecutive weeks. “Throwing Copper” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and went on to sell more than 10 million copies.
