South Mountain Community and Senior Center celebrates 50 years

“Family” was a common word used when seniors described their experience at Phoenix’s South Mountain Senior Center.

“It’s like a family — family within a family,” said Glessie Brown, a member of the center since 2023, in a video published by the city of Phoenix.

Hundreds gathered to celebrate that family on Friday, Sept. 18 as the South Mountain Community and Senior Center celebrated its 50th anniversary.
