Phoenix’s Bike to Work Day draws hundreds for morning ride

Posted

Hundreds of cyclists participated Wednesday in Phoenix’s Bike to Work Day.

The group ride covered 3.73 miles, beginning 7 a.m. April 19 at Park Central and ending about 30 minutes later at Phoenix City Hall Plaza.

At the end of the ride, part of the city’s celebration of Valley Bike Month, participants were treated to breakfast and a prize drawing. City and county officials spoke to the riders.

The annual Bike to Work Day event and Valley Bike Month “encourages using alternative modes of transportation to improve air quality, reduce traffic and improve overall well-being,” a city release stated.
