Phoenix restricts fireworks use in some parts of city, ups penalties

Repeat offenders could now get 6 months in jail

Phoenix is banning fireworks use in parts of the city and upping the penalties, including possible jail time, for those that violate fireworks laws.

Phoenix City Council approved the changes to city code 7-0 during its May 20 meeting.

“I think it’s important, especially from a fire safety perspective, that we do this ordinance,” said Councilmember Debra Stark.
