Phoenix art show celebrates Grand Avenue’s colorful legacy

Five15Arts exhibition pays tribute to artist and arts advocate Beatrice Moore with works inspired by her collection of vintage craft materials

A new Phoenix group exhibition will celebrate the colorful aesthetic of Grand Avenue and one of the artists who helped shape its creative community.

“Plush Plastic Pop” opens with a First Friday reception Nov. 6 at Five15Arts @ Chartreuse, 1301 NW Grand Ave.

The exhibition pays tribute to Beatrice Moore, who has spent more than four decades acquiring and restoring buildings along Grand Avenue and making spaces available to artists and other creatives. Five15Arts members were invited into Moore’s now-closed Kooky Kraft Shop, where they selected materials from her collection of vintage craft supplies, including plastic doll parts, pom-poms, artificial flowers, and googly eyes, to incorporate into their own work.
