New wave of anti-Muslim sentiment rises 25 years after 9/11

Survey: 43% of U.S. adults say Muslims are less patriotic than other Americans

In the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks of 2001, the country experienced a widespread wave of hate crimes against Muslims, ranging from property damage to violence, including murder.

Now, as the nation observes the 25th anniversary of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, it appears the country, including Arizona, is experiencing a similar wave of post-9/11 Islamophobic rhetoric.

And in some ways, Azza Abuseif, Council on American-Islamic Relations Arizona chapter executive director, says it is more extreme than before.
