Amanda Adkins and Cindy Brower present “Chasing Light,” an art show about healing and happiness.
The exhibition runs from Friday, April 28 through Wednesday, May 24 at Olney Gallery at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt St., Phoenix. There is also a First Friday reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 5.
Adkins’ paintings reflects coming to terms with chronic illness. She uses heavily saturated and unrealistic colors against a simple backdrop of the natural wood grain.
“Each painting is an opportunity to show the beauty in my body’s dysfunction,” she shared in a news release.
Adkins graduated from ASU with a BFA in Arts Education. She has exhibited her work throughout Arizona, California and New York.
Cindy Brower creates colorful abstract photography that finds magic in the ordinary.
“Sometimes I will be walking, and something catches my eye; there is a moment when time stands still and for a split second, my spirit and mind collide with my camera,” Brower stated.
Brower won an Award for Excellence in Art from Scottsdale Community College. She has studios in Prescott and Scottsdale, and shows her work throughout Arizona.
Also during the Frist Friday reception there will be a Ukranian fundraising festival in the courtyard sponsored by You Are the Angel, a nonprofit helping to deliver food, medical supplies and evacuating people in Ukraine.
