In December 2025, the Kyrene Governing Board took what may be the most significant action in our district's history. The board voted to approve a plan for school consolidation to preserve the Kyrene experience now and for generations to come.

This page is a central hub of information to support families and staff through the transition. Here, you will find maps, timelines, FAQs, background and updates to help you stay informed and engaged. Kyrene is committed to caring for all students, staff, and families as we navigate this transition and move Kyrene forward.

The plan approved by the Kyrene Governing Board closed three schools in the 2026-27 school year and three additional schools will close in the 2027-28 school year. Kyrene’s two Dual Language academies became open-enrollment-only schools, with no attendance boundaries.

Nine additional Kyrene schools are experiencing boundary changes as a result of school consolidation. These changes are outlined in the maps below and this implementation timeline.
