Chicanos Por La Causa has a new leader.
The Arizona-based nonprofit organization announced Alicia Nuñez as the group's president and chief exectutive officer, according to a press release.
Nuñez was appointed on April 24, the press release stated.
"We are thrilled to name Alicia Nuñez as the president and CEO," said Delma Herrera, chair of Chicanos Por La Causa board of directors — which made her appointment on Wednesday. "Her visionary leadership, strategic acumen, and dedication to our more than 2,000 staff and the communities we serve make her the ideal choice to lead our organization forward. As the first woman to assume this role in over five decades, Alicia represents a beacon of inspiration for people everywhere."
Nuñez has been with the organization since 2006.
She has served in several other roles such as acting president and CEO, chief financial officer and vice president of business enterprises, the press release stated.
Nuñez has "more than 23 years of financial and operational management experience in both for-profit and non-profit" business.
She is the first female leader in the organization's 55-year history, the press release stated.
