Cave Creek water improvements a top priority in 2026 budget

The Cave Creek Town Council approved its $75.6 million budget for the 2026 fiscal year at this week’s regular meeting.

A chunk of the total budget — $18 million — is earmarked for land costs for Cave Creek to potentially purchase 4,005 acres from the Arizona State Land Department via land auction. The land abuts Spur Cross Ranch and the Tonto National Forest.

About 50.8% of the 2025-26 budget goes to capital improvement projects while personnel is 10.4% and ongoing non-personnel expenses is 22.2% in the upcoming fiscal year which runs from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026, according to the Cherie White, the town’s finance director.
