Book wholesaler closure leads to Phoenix seeking two new librarians

Phoenix Public Library is looking to add two new librarian positions to replace a service that used to be done by a book vendor that recently went out of business.

Library wholesaler Baker & Taylor went bankrupt last year, closing its doors in January after nearly 200 years of selling books to U.S. libraries.

Lee Franklin, a spokesperson for Phoenix Public Library, told Independent Newsmedia late last year that she estimated in recent years, Phoenix bought about 80% of its physical books from Baker & Taylor.
