Arizona songwriters find a stage of their own at Foley Ranch

There’s a moment every songwriter hopes for: when something written alone with a guitar, a notebook or a half-formed melody connects with a room full of strangers.

That kind of connection is exactly what the inaugural Songwriter Showdown at Foley Ranch Boots & BBQ was created to encourage, giving Valley songwriters a place to perform original music in front of an audience ready to listen.

The idea grew out of Foley Ranch’s Rising Stars competition. Co-owner Don Talbot noticed talented performers sharing original songs did not always get the same immediate reaction as singers performing covers the crowd already knew.
