In addition to being arguably the best Centennial girls volleyball player in five years, Payton Whalen has proven to be an ideal ambassador for the program.

The senior’s collaboration with a third head coach in four years has proved the most fruitful. Leah Orth and her centerpiece led the Coyotes to a 14-3 regular season record in the 5A Conference.

Orth said she had not run across Whalen much on the club scene but quickly learned about her ability once she was hired.
