Transgender issues under the spotlight at Peoria Unified

District to have presentation on Title IX discrimination law

In recent months, two Peoria Unified governing board members and a group of speakers at school board meetings have voiced their concerns about a federal law that prohibits discrimination in schools.

More specifically, they have asked the board to address the part of the Title IX law that allows transgender students to use the bathroom they identify with, desiring bathrooms be gender binary, that is — either male or female.

What can be done remains unclear, but those with concerns will finally have an agenda item for public presentation and discussion.
