Sunrise Mountain volleyball star makes instant impact

After posting a career-high 18 kills at Great Northeast Athletic Conference-rival Rivier March 19, freshman Jordan Shinaut of the Lasell University men's volleyball team earned a fifth straight GNAC Rookie of the Week award March 21.
Shinaut is a 2021 Sunrise Mountain High School graduate and Peoria resident when not attending the school in Newton, Mass.
In addition to the 18 kills, Shinaut tallied eight digs, two block assists and one solo block for the Lasers (13-8, 7-2 GNAC). He entered this week third in the GNAC in kills per set (3.44), third in hitting percentage (.321), fifth in total kills (196) and tied for fifth in solo blocks (13).
Shinaut has tallied double-digit kills in 11 matches this season, including 15 or more seven times. He has finished with three or more total blocks on five occasions.
