Peoria Unified School District governing board member Beverly Pingerelli announced she is gathering signatures to run for Arizona State House of Representatives in Legislative District 21.
Signatures must be filed with the Maricopa County Recorder in early April in order for her name to appear on the primary ballot in August.
Ms. Pingerelli and her husband of 31 years, Peter, have raised two daughters in the Peoria School District where they attended elementary and high school. As district parents, they have more than 11 years of experience within the district.
Ms. Pingerelli was elected to her second term on the school board in 2018.
“Given my more than five years of service on the school board, I believe I’m uniquely qualified to understand many of the educational issues confronting our state, including some of the reform that needs to take place within Title 15. I believe this is a good qualification, given that almost 50% of state budget is allocated to education,” Ms. Pingerelli said.
Ms. Pingerelli works at St. Joseph’s Hospital in molecular medicine where she performs genetic testing on brain and eye tumors.
