Peoria Sports Complex unveils new mural by BacPac

A local aerosol artist has created a large-scale mural celebrating spring training.
The city of Peoria recently introduced a new mural created by local artist BacPac on the first base concourse at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave.
The large-scale mural reflects the unique facility that hosts the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners, and was unveiled in celebration of Peoria’s 30th season of spring training.
“I am so excited for this project because I love stadiums and crowds and big theaters and arenas,” said BacPac. “Public art is a message and to be able to paint at a place like this is really a lot of fun.”
The abstract mural incorporates signature elements of the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres home cities and their "second home" of Peoria, Arizona. Residents and fans are invited to check out this dynamic and colorful public art piece during their next visit to the Peoria Sports Complex.
“We want our community to experience art in exciting and surprising new ways and accessibility to art is important,” said Marylou Stephens, arts, culture and library services director. “This mural celebrates our Peoria Sports Complex and the patrons that love this facility, and I am happy that so many people attending spring training and beyond will have the opportunity to enjoy it.”
BacPac is a full-time aerosol artist painting public and private commissions throughout the United States. They started painting cars and motorcycles at the age of fourteen in New York City, as well as scenery in Hollywood and art on films around the world. Their work has been featured in the New Times for Best Murals of Phoenix 2018 and featured in the Arizona Republic “Best Murals to See in Phoenix” in 2022.
